Italian majors and minors can participate in a semester or short-term program abroad to earn credits towards their degree. Students will have the opportunity to study both the Italian language and culture in an environment where experiential learning enhances progress towards proficiency.

As an Italian major or minor, you can:

• Participate in an internship, service learning and hands-on experiences while earning credit.
• Explore Italian culture through coursework and participation in extracurriculars.
• Challenge your language knowledge through in-class study as well as immersion activities.
• Select a program that allows you to study other subjects, staying on track for graduation requirements, while earning credit for your Italian concentration.

Faculty-Led:

Summer Italian Cinema in Sorrento
Sorrento, Italy
Short-term, faculty-led program with 2 courses: one focuses on Italian Cinema and provides students with the option for their second course. Students can select from Italian language or an internship in the community that is a great fit for students with more advanced language skills.

Summer Psychology in Florence
Florence, Italy
Short-term, faculty-led program offers students with limited availability to study abroad for a 2 week journey earning 3 credits in multicultural psychology. Students will be based in Florence and the city will be an integral aspect of learning. The small group environment also lends well to students with limited experience traveling abroad and who thrive working in a group.

Winter Mediterranean Diet and Tuscan Cuisine in Florence
Florence, Italy
Short-term, faculty-led program designed for undergraduate students with an interest in food, nutrition, dietetics, or other health related fields.

Summer Archaeology Field School in Perugia
Perugia, Italy
Short-term, summer program focuses on archaeology and is a great fit for students interested in a deep dive into this subject as well as Italian history and culture. Although there is not a language course offered on this program, students will be exposed to Italian language in this immersive environment in Perugia.

Semester and Academic Year program options providing  a location off the beaten path for students to immerse themselves in Italian culture and language with courses that incorporate community engagement. There are opportunities for independent research, service learning and experiential learning through group projects for academic credit.
