UConn Semester Programs

UConn Semester Programs are Tuition-Based Programs offered during the semester. Students can participate in these programs for one semester or the full academic year. UConn Semester programs offer a variety of different experiences that are outlined in the following sections.

Faculty-Led

Faculty-led programs are offered in-person, virtually or in a hybrid format by UConn Instructors or Program Leaders. Students learn, travel and are housed with other UConn students. Experiential Global Learning, UConn faculty, and our partners facilitate these programs directly. In our online database, you may view a list of UConn Semester Faculty Led Programs.

Signature

Signature programs are offered in-person, virtually, or in a hybrid format and are created and facilitated by Experiential Global Learning in collaboration with our partners. EGL works with our partners to provide information for courses, housing, administration, and support while on-site. In our online database, you may view a list of UConn Semester Signature Programs.

Exchange

Exchange Programs allow UConn to swap students on a regular basis with a partner university through an official agreement. Through an Exchange students enroll directly in classes, share housing with local students, and may become a regular member of the host university community. The international programs office of the host university will be available for most student support services. Because there are limited spots for each Exchange, a GPA of 3.0 or higher is required for application and selection is competitive. In our online database, you may view a list of UConn Semester Exchange Programs. To view a full list of UConn Semester Programs, please visit our online database.

UConn Summer, Winter, and Spring Break Programs

UConn Summer, Winter, and Spring Break programs are Fee-Based Programs that are offered outside of the standard UConn semester. UConn Summer, Winter, and Spring Break programs offer a variety of different experiences that are outlined in the following sections.

UConn Affiliated Programs

Through formal affiliation agreements, you may enroll in classes at partner institution or program. That institution or program’s international programs office may be available for support services. Experiential Opportunities

Honors Programs

Honors students can deepen their academic experience even further through Experiential Global Learning. Many students can arrange for Honors credit for courses they take on an approved program. If you have academic merit scholarships, note that you may not use them on Fee-Based Programs, as they are not based on UConn tuition. Instead, Experiential Global Learning and the Honors Program recommend that you consider a Tuition-Based Program, on which you may use such scholarships. You can view more information on the Honors Program website. In our online database, you may view a list of Honors Programs. These programs allow you to earn Honors credit automatically, as long as you complete the designated Honors course(s) with a B- or better.

Internship Programs

Gain professional experience during your program! Many students express that they acquired their foreign language skills, deeper connections with locals, and the most transformative experiences while interning. UConn even offers some internship programs that may allow you to earn credit. In our online database, you may view a list of Internship Programs. These programs include coursework that allow you to earn credit for your internship.

Service Learning Programs

Develop your citizenship skills through ethical service to the communities that help you learn more about yourself and the world. In our online database, you may view a list of Service Learning Programs.

Teaching Programs
