As an Individualized major or minor studying Religion, you can:

  • Participate in an internship abroad to satisfy your thesis requirement and gain real-world experience working with human rights organizations.
  • Explore a variety of courses that can count towards your major or minor as core requirements, related courses, and electives.
  • Visit local religious sites and communities for cross cultural exchange and access scholars with specialties in niche academic areas of interest.

Faculty-Led:

Summer Interdisciplinary Ethnography Field School in Mauritius
Mauritius, Africa
This program is targeted towards students across all fields in the social sciences and the humanities. In particular, it is suitable for students interested in interdisciplinary social scientific research, cultural and religious diversity, as well as area studies, thanks to its location and emphasis on Indian Ocean and African history, cultures, and religions.

ECNU is recognized as one of Shanghai’s top public research universities. The University attaches great importance to internationalization; establishing exchange and cooperative partnerships with more than 200 internationally renowned universities and academic institutions.
Philosophy courses include subjects related to Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.

University of Edinburgh
Edinburgh, Scotland
One of the largest Universities in the UK with a reputation for academic excellence and research. Courses are available in in Anthropology with focuses on religion, including Islamic Studies. History courses include topics on Paganism and Christianity.

University of Glasgow
Glasgow, Scotland
Glasgow is in the top 1% of universities in the world.  The campus has an enrollment of approximately 20,000 students (both undergraduate and graduate students) and welcomes international students from more than 120 countries. Courses are available and aligned in Philosophy, including the Philosophy of Religion.

Students can take courses in Hebrew, Arabic, Middle East, Religion and other social science courses that will complement the study of religion. Brisbane, Australia
The oldest and largest of Queensland’s nine universities and the State’s leading center of higher education. Courses include topics related to World Religion and Buddhism, in addition to many others in the humanities and social sciences.

Prague, Czech Republic
Charles University is one of the most historic and prestigious universities in Central Europe. Courses include topics related to Jewish history in Europe, specifically in Central and Eastern regions. The ECES program can also serve as a base for students who wish to conduct independent research in archives or who want to establish contact with academics in Prague, pursue independent studies, etc.

Tel Aviv, Israel
The University allows students to learn Hebrew and absorb the fascinating land and culture of the people of Israel while taking extraordinary courses in English.
Courses include topics related to the Holocaust as well as religion and conflict, in addition to many other courses within the arts, business, social sciences and humanities.
