Summer Exploring Women and Leadership in Iceland
Reykjavik, Iceland
Learners will engage in small class meetings, day trips in Reykjavik and outside the city, and talks from prominent women in Iceland to explore themes such as gender and sexuality, economics and the workforce, politics and government, family and motherhood, and education. This is a great option for students seeking a short-term opportunity abroad.
Summer Racial and Social Justice in the Netherlands
Amsterdam, Netherlands
This program is designed to introduce students to international and comparative higher education through a historical and global context. It aims to provide UConn students with comparative methods and cross-cultural analysis to examine the broader issues of equity and access with a focus on race and social justice. This is a great option for students seeking a short-term opportunity abroad.

The Arava Institute is at the forefront of environmental studies and research in the Middle East, where students can explore a range of environmental issues from an exceptional transboundary and interdisciplinary perspective. In line with the mission to generate capacity building for conciliation, cooperation, and environmental change, all students participate in a weekly Peace-building Leadership Seminar and an Environmental Leadership Seminar. Students engage in dialogue, exploring issues of culture, religion, identity, environmental activism, and the current political situation, while developing competencies in intercultural understanding, empathy, and environmental leadership.
The Washington Center: Academic Internship Program
Washington, DC
A domestic program that includes an internship for academic credit that includes a focus on policy, with a wide range of placement options. Students will learn professional skills in a classroom environment and create a professional e-portfolio that can be used post graduation.
Finances are an integral part of the program selection and planning process. Research scholarships early to meet application deadlines and request feedback on essays from advisors and the Writing Center.
