Propose a New Experiential Global Learning Program
Experiential Global Learning is eager to help build new programs that serve our students’ evolving needs and interests! We seek to build an academically rigorous program portfolio integrated into our departments’ curricula.
Consider a New Program
- Start with articulating your program’s goals and student learning outcomes.
- Examine our various program types and current list of approved programs. Program types vary in structure, financial models, and student accessibility.
- Consider ways to integrate experiential learning opportunities, such as internships, service learning, field work, clinical rotations, teacher shadowing, or research.
- Review our general policies and procedures and, if you propose a Custom Program, our custom program information.

Proposal Process
Please note that all new programs must gain approval from the Office of Global Affairs. New programs generally take at least nine months to one year from proposal to student mobility, so plan ahead!
- Complete a Program Proposal Form in collaboration with Experiential Global Learning. You will need to secure signatures from your Department Head and Dean.
- For Faculty-Led Programs, you may use the Faculty-Led Program Proposal FormĀ
- For Affiliated or Exchange programs, you may use the Affiliated Program Proposal Form
- The Director of Experiential Global Learning will submit your proposal before the Experiential Global Learning Advisory Committee (EGLAC).
- The EGLAC will provide feedback for ultimate approval by the Vice President for Global Affairs.
If your program is a new Fee-Based Program (in which UConn contracts directly with a vendor), the Custom Programs Specialist then will work with Procurement Services to source contractors for your program and with you on a program budget.
